Musical Fabulation: Hearing History in a Different Voice

Historical archives can be read, but can the written text also be heard? This evening of performances reflects on the sonic dimensions of archival texts through live music, spoken text, improvisation, and multimedia performance. The pieces that will be performed explore the rhythms, textures, and voices embedded within historical documents, asking how reading changes when text is approached not only as meaning, but also as sound. By examining historical text through musical performance, the program invites audiences to listen to the archive differently.
