musician, improviser, sound artist, guitarist. He studied jazz guitar in conservatory and was the head of the guitar department in Kathmandu Jazz Conservatory. Currently he is studying improvisation in the Music Academy of Basel with Fred Frith and Alfred Zimmerlin. He is a member of many projects related to improvised and experimental music.
born 1984 in Temuco, in the south of Chile, began her musical studies on piano at the age of 9 years old. She entered the Universidad Catolica de Chile conservatory (Santiago) at age 17, but after three years decided to start anew and dedicate herself to the clarinet. She received her bachelors degree from the same institution in 2012, thereafter moving to Strasbourg in order to further pursue her studies. Her musical career took another turn when she decided to cease her classical studies and transfer to the jazz and improvised music department at Strasbourg conservatory. She has since dedicated herself to improvised music and played with musicians such as Diego Manuschevich, Diego Aguirre, Kazue Ogasawara, Evan Vercoutre, Janis Fedotovs, Javier Frausto and Jad El Khechen, among others. She has recently enrolled in the MA SP Improvisation at Musik-Akademie Basel.
is a multi-instrumentalist playing the flute, the bass flute, the contrabass flute, the saxophones, the gayageum and the daegeum. He studied classical flute in the Mons Conservatory in Belgium in the class of Marc Grauwels and Jean Prévot, he also studied with Helen Bledsoe and followed masterclasses with Wil Offermans and Michael Schmid. He is now studying free improvisation at the Musik Akademie Basel with Alfred Zimmerlin and Andrea Neumann.
hat ihre Stimme zwei Jahre lang am Konservatorium Winterthur klassisch gebildet, bevor sie Musik und Bewegung/ Rhythmik an der Hochschule der Künste Bern in Biel studiert hat. Dort konnte sie ihre Liebe zur Bewegung und Improvisation nähren und ihre stimmlichen Fertigkeiten weiter vertiefen. Danach hat sie sich zwei Jahre lang dem Unterrichten von Musik und Tanz für Kinder gewidmet. Jetzt studiert sie im zweiten Masterjahr Improvisation an der Musikakademie Basel und kann dort ihre künstlerischen Ideen entwickeln und umsetzen. Sie arbeitet im Bereich Musik und Performance, wo sie ihre Stimme mit verschiedenen Bereichen verbindet, allem voran Bewegung, aber auch mit ihrer Geige, Malerei oder Elektronik. Neben ihrer künstlerischen Tätigkeit arbeitet sie als Rhythmik-und Kindertanzlehrerin und bietet Workshops für Kinder an.
is a Romanian musician based in Basel, Switzerland. With a strong background in classical music performance, Iulia’s current artistic practice covers a large stylistic area, from Historical Performance Practice to improvisation, multidisciplinary projects and technology-augmented performance. She is currently living in Basel and studying in the MA Improvisation program at the Hochschule für Musik, Basel at the class of Alfred Zimmerlin and Andrea Neumann/Fred Frith.
